ULister
v7.0
For use with Maximus CBCS v2.0-3.0
What is ULister?
ULister is a program to record the last caller to a Maximus BBs.
ULister accesses the lastus??.bbs file created by Max to get caller
information. ULister has configurable colors and node numbers, it can
be used in a multi line multi session environment (as I use it here).
Warranty?
The Only warranty that ULister has is that it will take up space
on your hard drive. I do not guarantee that it will work on your system
I just know that it works on mine. Kevin Brennan or InsaneWare is not
responsible for loss of time or production because of the use of this
program.
How to use it?
Run the install program that came with ULister, it will install onto
the drive you specify in the directory ULister. After the install program
has moved files to their correct places it will delete all of the original
files from the archive except install.exe. After install has moved your
files it will ask if you would like to run ulstrcfg, this is the
configuration program for ULister. choose Y and then answer the questions
it asks you. ULstrcfg will create a *.bbs file (* meaning the name of the
file that you specified to be the configuration file) you will need to
run this file from one of your closing screens like this --->
file byebye.mec
[link]path\cfg.bbs ;path is the location where you told ULister to
install to and cfg is the name of the .bbs file
you told ULstrcfg to create.
mecca the byebye.mec file and you are mostly ready to go. Go to the batch
file that runs your Max bbs (mine is node1.bat) in the ending lines before
you either start up Maxs WFB module or bring up your mailer run the following
drive: ;what ever drive you told ULister to install on
cd\ulister
ulister cfg.cfg ;cfg is the same name as the name you specified in
the link statement above. (ie. if you specified
node01.bbs in the link statement above you would
specify node01.cfg after ulister)
I have also sent a maintenance utility along with ULister, all that you need
to do to use this program is in your maintenance file for your BBS add the
following
drive: ;what ever drive you told ULister to install on
cd\ulister
maint cfg.cfg ;this should be the same file name that you run with
ULister. If you are running a multi node set up then
you only need to use the cfg file for one of the nodes
the reason for the maint utility is, I got tired of right after midnight
if a user pressed "W"ho called today, they would get a blank line and then
press enter to continue, what this program does is rename your output file
(c:\max\misc\ulister.bbs) to (c:\max\misc\yest.bbs) and then recreates the
file ulister.bbs with just the header. You do not need to run maint at all
if you do not wish because ULister will create the same header itself.
The last thing you need to do to install ULister is add the following line
to the menus.ctl file for the section you would like to ULister displayed
from.
menu main
display_menu file
display_menu message
display_file misc\output ;if you used the default name for the output
file (ulister.bbs) then this line would read
display_file misc\ulister.
